Event Co-Hosted with Plymouth County Outreach
Chief Neil Foley is pleased to announce that the Plymouth Fire Department has partnered with Plymouth County Outreach to host a National Drug Take Back Day event this weekend.
WHEN:
Saturday, Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
WHERE:
Cedarville Fire Station (front of building), 2209 State Road, Plymouth
WHAT:
The Plymouth Fire Department has partnered with Plymouth County Outreach (PCO), the Plymouth Youth Development Collaborative (PYDC) through Plymouth Public Schools and the Plymouth Police Department to host this community event.
During the event, PCO will be collecting unwanted, expired or unused prescription drugs as part of National Drug Take Back Day, a biannual, free, no-questions-asked event that gives the community the opportunity to aid in the fight against substance use disorder by disposing of potentially dangerous prescription drugs.
Community members can drop off unwanted pills, patches and vaping devices, but not liquids. Used sharps will be collected, but must be placed in a hard plastic container, such as a detergent bottle, before bringing them to the take back event.
Additionally, attendees will be able to take home a free Narcan kit, Deterra pouches to dispose of prescription pills safely at home, and/or resource kits and other information regarding substance use disorder.
Members of the Plymouth Fire Department will also be collecting sharps at a second National Drug Take Back Day event this weekend at the Plymouth Police Department, 20 Long Pond Road, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Questions about PCO’s Take Back Day events can be directed to Jordyn Nelson at jnelson@plymouthcountyoutreach.org.
