Congratulations to Firefighter James Kneeland!
Firefighter Kneeland is Plymouth’s newest graduate from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy. FF Kneeland graduated during a small, private ceremony today at the Springfield Campus of the Department of Fire Services. In a public statement released by the Massachusetts Fire Academy, Director David Evans stated, “First responders are on the frontlines protecting their communities and these newest firefighters are needed now more than ever. We have taken advantage of technology, reduced class size to increase social distancing, implemented daily screening, and required mask-wearing to keep our instructors and students as safe as possible during these uncertain times,”
After an intense 10 week curriculum involving many topics beyond firefighting such as public fire education, hazardous material mitigation, stress management, confined space rescue techniques, and rappelling, FF Kneeland is ready to rejoin the ranks of his brother and sister firefighters, certified to the level of Firefighter I and II, and Hazardous Materials First Responder. FF Kneeland will be assigned to Group 1 Engine 1 starting next week.
Well done James, have a safe and healthy career.
