Attention Home Buyers, Real Estate Agents, and Closing Attorney’s:
On March 20, 2020, Governor Baker issued Executive Order #12, deferring inspections required by Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 148 sections 26F and 26F ½ (Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector re-sale inspections) until (90) days after the current State of Emergency is lifted or Executive Order #12 is rescinded. The Plymouth Fire Department has been deferring re-sale inspections under this order since it was announced.
Per the Governor’s Office, effective as of July 10, 2020, Executive Order No. 12 has been rescinded. Inspections required by law must be completed before the sale or transfer of any home. Any inspections that were deferred must now be inspected within 90 days of July 10, 2020. If you bought a home or represented a buyer in purchasing a home in Plymouth during this time period, please contact the Plymouth Fire Department Prevention and Code Enforcement Office at (508) 830-4213 ext. 105 to schedule your inspection to comply with State Law.
